Schools Out for the Summer (well, almost!)

Hey Greece, did you catch the announcement from GCS about the revision to the calendar?  We’ve got just about 4 more weeks in the school year, and we know your kids are probably getting antsy waiting for these final days to be over- maybe you are too!!

The Dates

  • K-8: last full day is June 22nd.  HALF DAY on June 23rd.
  • High School: dates are UNCHANGED.  Last day of classes June 15th, with exams beginning after.

Teacher Appreciation

Now’s the time to start thinking about how you can show your child’s teacher some love after a long year!  Teacher appreciate gifts aren’t a necessity, but they are certainly well deserved!  Most teachers probably have a cabinet full of mugs they’ve been give; why not try something a little different this year?  Pintrest is full of gift ideas for creative parents/kids, but you don’t have to DIY a great gift for a teacher!  Why not give a gift card to a local restaurant?  Sheknows.com has some other really great & practical gift ideas!

While you’re at it, don’t forget to thank your child’s bus driver too!!

Start a Countdown

Kids feeling weary at the end of the year?  Start building some summer excitement with a countdown!!  We love this paper chain, but you can be as creative as you want.  Kids will love getting to rip off links, and start watching as the number of days left gets lower and lower!!  It’s a fun activity for a stormy day like today!!!

Make Sure There Won’t Be Any (bad) Surprises on Those Report Cards

Now’s the time to make sure your kiddo’s grades are looking good!  If they are struggling in a subject or perhaps missing some assignments, there is still time for a course correction before report cards come out!  Progress reports should be coming out in the next week or so; if you don’t see one, contact the school.  It’s easy for kids to get a little tired toward the end of the year (or for them to want to be out, and neglecting their homework), encourage them to finish strong & to give it their best.

Greece NY has some of the best schools around; check out these amazing scores on greatschools.org.  Because of our fantastic school district, Greece properties are in high demand.  If you are interested in buying or selling a Greece property SharonQ would love to talk to you!
